Keelung Customs Holds Hiking With Its Stakeholders to Mark Tax Day 2014

To mark Tax Day 2014, Keelung Customs (KLC), in conjunction with Port of Keelung, Taiwan International Ports Corporation, organized a hiking in Chung Cheng Park on July 5, 2014. Co-sponsored by Keelung City Government and associations of customs brokerage, transport, and warehousing, etc., this outing activity was held with the theme of “Innovative Customs and Smart Logistics.” Taking this opportunity, the Customs promoted its innovative initiatives to enhance partnership with its stakeholders.

Supported by many passionate local residents from all walks of life, young and old alike, the trek kicked off with glamorous fanfare at Keelung Maritime Plaza at 8 a.m. Among the VIPs who led the procession were Keelung City Mayor Chang Tong-Rong, Keelung City Council Speaker Huang Jing-Tai, Deputy Directors General of Customs Administration Ma You-Chu and Chow Shun-Zan, Keelung Customs Director Liao Chao-Hsiang and General Manager of Port of Keelung, International Port Corporation, Tsai Ting-Yi.

After walking about 4.5 Kms along the beautiful shady trails in the Park, the throng arrived at the Keelung Municipal Stadium, where various booths were set up by KLC, local taxation agency, port authority, post office, Keelung Station of Marine Affairs Field Office of Investigation Bureau, etc.

Over 2,000 people including employees of the sponsoring organizations and their family participated in this rendezvous aiming to promote the Customs’ services by means of Q&A raffles for giveaways and entertaining programs performed by Customs officers and those from other organizations. All of the booths were crowded with people, while others were standing in long lines. There were more than 200 lucky participants winning a variety of presents or purchase vouchers with values ranging from NT$300 (US$10) to NT$6,000 (US$200) provided by various organizations.

This activity wrapped with a great success, and set a good example of cooperation among these organizations. It is believed that the event is of much benefit to the enhancement of partnership between the Customs and its stakeholders, which can in turn further expedite cargo clearance in Keelung Customs.
