In honor of the Mutual Recognition Arrangement (MRA) on Authorized Economic Operator (AEO) signed between India and Taiwan at the Customs Administration on Oct. 11th , delegates from India Central Board of Excise and Customs (CBEC)—Special Secretary, Mr. S. Ramesh, Additional Director General, Mr. M. M. Parthiban, along with Assistant Director General from India-Taipei Association, Mr. Signh—together visited Keelung Customs on Oct. 13th. On behalf of Keelung Customs, Deputy Director, Mr. Chen, Chin-Piao, extended the sincerest welcome towards the distinguished Customs delegates from India, and several visiting activities were arranged to exchange experience on Customs matters.

The visiting programs included the on-site tour for the Import Division, Intelligent Mobile Inspection program, Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) Seal system, non-intrusive inspection methods such as mobile X-ray container inspection machines and the drug detector dogs program, etc., presenting the trade facilitation measures as well as the advanced inspection technologies adopted by Taiwan Customs. Both sides benefit from this experience sharing.

Prior to the visit to Keelung Customs, the India delegates had signed the MRA at the Customs Administration on Oct. 11th. In order to increase trade security and competiveness, Taiwan Customs has been devoted to promoting the AEO program and to signing MRAs with other countries for many years. The AEOs of both sides are eligible to enjoy the benefits provided by each other’s Customs under the MRA, which not only effectively enhances trade security and facilitation, but also stimulates bilateral trade.
