Keelung Customs Accepts Application for Registration of Maritime Express Delivery Enterprises

Keelung Customs (KLC) announced that it formally started to accept the application for registration of maritime express delivery enterprises on Oct. 9, 2014. Those who intend to operate the business of forwarding/transporting maritime express consignments between Taiwan and China should submit their applications along with relevant documents to the Taipei Harbor Station of KLC’s Taoyuan Branch.
KLC added that after the Regulations Governing Customs Clearance Procedures for Maritime Express Consignments were adopted on Nov. 29, 2013, Tonglit Logistics Co. Ltd. and Taiwan International Ports Corporation Ltd. were approved to establish Maritime Express Handling Units (MEHUs) at the Port of Taipei on Sept. 30 and Oct. 9, 2014 respectively, and the establishment of these two MEHUs is expected to be completed by the end of Feb. and Aug. 2015 respectively.
In order to help the business sector get a better insight into the customs clearance procedures for maritime express consignments, KLC will conduct a symposium in the near future. The Customs also urged those who are interested to engage in the business of forwarding/ transporting maritime consignments between Taiwan and China to contact the Taipei Harbor Station of KLC’s Taoyuan Branch at 886 2 86305427 ext: 146.
