Taiwan Customs and IPR Business Partnership Co-host Counterfeit Identification Workshop in Taipei

In order to reinforce IPR border enforcement and to enhance Customs officers’ capabilities of identifying counterfeit products, the Customs Administration, Ministry of Finance, and the IPR Business Partnership co-hosted the “2015 National Training Workshop on the Identification of Counterfeit Goods” in Taipei on September 14-15, 2015.

According to Taiwan Customs Administration, the IPR Business Partnership is an international forum which dedicates itself to combating infringement of intellectual property rights. The forum gathered various experts of brand protection to hold identification training programs around the world every year to arouse public awareness of the importance of IPR protection. This Workshop invited a senior supervisor of Taiwan Customs Administration to introduce IPR Border Enforcement on Express Consignments. In addition, more than 20 IPR protection experts coming from local and overseas were invited to illustrate the identification techniques of 30 famous brands including Apple, Beats, Crop Life, Tommy Hilfiger, Unilever, Prada, Swiss Watch Federation, New Era, Philips, Dolby, Estee Lauder, The North Face, Michael Kors, Louis Vuitton Fashion, Beiersdorf AG, Chanel, Pandora, Puma, Pentland Group, Nike, Converse, Hurley, HDMI, Gucci, Bottega Veneta, Canon, LVMH, Bioderma, Samsung, GSK, etc.

Taiwan Customs Administration further addresses, this Workshop was attended by 85 participants, including Customs officers and representatives from Department of Prosecutorial Affairs and Investigation Bureau of Ministry of Justice, Taiwan Intellectual Property Office, and National Police Agency of Ministry of the Interior. This Workshop not only has enhanced officers’ capability in conducting IPR enforcement but it has also projected the image of Taiwan Customs, which put a lot efforts to fight against counterfeit products.
